Black Ops Market Profile: What the Record Actually Shows
A profile of the Black Ops darknet market built only from what named, dated, public sources confirm — with every dispute flagged rather than quietly resolved.
The short profile
Black Ops Market (styled BlackOps, Blackops, and — in one threat-intel guide — "Black Ops") is an English-language darknet marketplace trading over Tor, accepting Monero exclusively, and requiring PGP from its users. It made its first documented public appearance on the Dread forum in October 2024. By the January 2026 snapshot of the NDARC/UNSW Drug Trends cryptomarket scraping programme it carried 5,006 drug listings — sixth among thirteen monitored markets, above the 4,014 average — and by May 2026 it sat inside the top five of nineteen. In mid-2026 SOCRadar ranked it the third-largest dark web marketplace overall, behind Russian Market and Torzon.
That paragraph is the strongest version of the black ops market profile that the open record supports. Almost every other sentence you will read about this market online adds material that no source can hold up: a 2022 birthday, 50,000 users, an owner named "Blackcell", "the best fees". This section keeps the supported core and puts the rest on trial.
What kind of market is it?
Depends who you ask, and that is itself the finding. CACI DarkBlue's January 2025 analysis of boutique cryptomarkets called BlackOps "a newer boutique market that specializes in drugs", captured in a Dread screenshot. SOCRadar's June 2026 ranking describes a "large multi-category" marketplace with a digital-products category alone showing more than 19,000 listings. Both descriptions are dated and sourced; they cannot both be complete. The category-mix analysis works through the two readings — genuine growth from boutique to general store, a definitional split between "listings" and "drug listings", or one analyst simply being wrong.
