When Did Black Ops Market Launch? Four Dates Audited

Four different origins circulate for the black ops darknet market, and one document contains two of them. This file weighs each version against the only thing that settles dates: a datable event in a named place.

Sources weighed: Searchlight Cyber (27 Aug 2026) · EverybodyWiki (ed. 24 Jul 2026) · Sam Bent video (25 Apr 2025) · CACI DarkBlue (14 Jan 2025) · a darknet-link portal review (Aug 2026)

Claim under review
Black Ops Market has been active since September 2022

False — The claim is the "Active Since" header of Searchlight Cyber's BlackOps entry, and the same entry's body text says the market began activity in September 2024. A two-year self-contradiction inside one document is disqualifying for the earlier date: if September 2022 were evidenced, the body text would not say 2024. Nothing else in the record places this market anywhere in 2022 — not CACI DarkBlue, which in January 2025 called it "a newer boutique market"; not NDARC's monitoring, which first shows it in the 2025–2026 cycles; not the Dread-centric video record.

Version-by-version weighing

September 2022 — the header field

False. Origin: a template field on a guide page that also ships visible "Lorem ipsum" placeholder text and an unfilled 2026 variable elsewhere on the same site — documented markers of assembly-line production. The header was never checked against the body. Case closed; it survives only because aggregators scrape headers.

September 2024 — the body text and the wiki

Unanchored but plausible. Searchlight's prose and EverybodyWiki's infobox agree on September 2024. Agreement between two sources that never cite each other is worth something — but neither attaches a datable event: no announcement, no first listing, no forum post. A quiet September opening followed by an October public debut would reconcile them perfectly, and nothing contradicts that reading.

October 2024 — the Dread debut

Single-sourced, strongest available. Sam Bent's April 2025 video: the market was "first posting publicly to Dread back in October of 2024". This is the only origin statement in the entire record that names a platform and an event rather than asserting a month. Dread posts are datable artifacts; a researcher who watched the market's early threads is exactly the witness positioned to see one. It remains single-sourced — hence disputed rather than confirmed under this dossier's two-source rule — but it is the anchor the timeline uses.

"A 2026 newcomer" — the portal rewrite

False. A review published in August 2026 on a darknet-link portal introduces the market as having "appeared on the radar of darknet researchers in early 2026". The same portal network's other pages carry September 2026 "buyer FAQ" and "phishing checklist" content describing an established market, and CACI DarkBlue had already photographed BlackOps in Dread in January 2025. The "newcomer" framing exists to make the review look current; it is contradicted by the portal's own neighbourhood.

The dossier's working position, stated the way the methodology requires: the black ops market opened in autumn 2024 — a September soft launch is consistent with the record, an October public Dread debut is the anchor event, and any date outside that window is either a template error or marketing. If a dated Dread thread screenshot or an archived announcement surfaces with a better date, this file gets updated and re-pinged; that is what the corrections channel on the about page is for.
